Hosea 5

Judgment on Israel and Judah

1Hear this, priests!

Listen, house of the king!

2In their wicked condition, they have sunk deep into corruption;

3I know Ephraim;

Israel doesn’t escape my eye;

Israel is defiled.

4Their deeds don’t allow them

5Israel’s pride is a witness against him;

6With their sheep and their cattle they will go

7They have acted faithlessly against the LORD ;

8Blow a horn in Gibeah;

Sound the warning at Beth-aven:

9Ephraim will become a horrible place

Against the tribes of Israel

10The princes of Judah act like raiders who steal the land;

11Ephraim is under pressure from its enemies;

12Therefore, I am like a moth to Ephraim,

13When Ephraim saw his sickness,

then Ephraim went to Assyria,

But he could not heal them;

14I am like a lion to Ephraim,

I am the one who tears the prey and goes forth;

15I will leave so that I can return to my place
