Judgment on Israel and Judah

¹Hear this, priests!

Listen, house of the king!

²In their wicked condition, they have sunk deep into corruption;

³I know Ephraim;

Israel doesn’t escape my eye;

Israel is defiled.

⁴Their deeds don’t allow them

⁵Israel’s pride is a witness against him;

⁶With their sheep and their cattle they will go

⁷They have acted faithlessly against the LORD ;

⁸Blow a horn in Gibeah;

Sound the warning at Beth-aven:

⁹Ephraim will become a horrible place

Against the tribes of Israel

¹⁰The princes of Judah act like raiders who steal the land;

¹¹Ephraim is under pressure from its enemies;

¹²Therefore, I am like a moth to Ephraim,

¹³When Ephraim saw his sickness,

then Ephraim went to Assyria,

But he could not heal them;

¹⁴I am like a lion to Ephraim,

I am the one who tears the prey and goes forth;

¹⁵I will leave so that I can return to my place
