Psalms 76

Psalms 76

1In Judah God is known;

His name is great in Israel.

2His abode is in Salem,[#Ge 14:18]

His dwelling place in Zion.

3There He broke the flaming arrows of the bow,

the shield, the sword, and the weapons of war. Selah

4You are more glorious and excellent

than the mountains of prey.

5The stouthearted were plundered;[#Isa 46:12]

they sank into sleep;

and none of the mighty men

could use his hands.

6At Your rebuke, O God of Jacob,

both the rider and horse lay stunned.

7But You indeed are to be feared;[#Ps 89:7]

who may stand in Your presence once You are angry?

8You caused judgment to be heard from heaven;

the earth feared and was still,

9when God arose to judgment,

to save all the meek of the earth. Selah

10Surely the wrath of man shall praise You;

with the remainder of wrath You will gird Yourself.

11Make your vows to the Lord your God and fulfill them;[#Ps 50:14]

let all who are around Him

bring tribute to Him who is to be feared.

12He will cut off the spirit of princes;

He is feared by the kings of the earth.
