Psalms 110

Psalm 110

Assurance of Victory for God’s Priest-King

1The Lord says to my lord,[#Mt 22.44; Mk 12.36; Lk 20.42; Acts 2.34; 1 Cor 15.25]

“Sit at my right hand

until I make your enemies your footstool.”

2The Lord sends out from Zion[#Ps 2.9; 45.6]

your mighty scepter.

Rule in the midst of your foes.

3Your people will offer themselves willingly[#Judg 5.2; Ps 96.9]

on the day you lead your forces

on the holy mountains.

From the womb of the morning,

like dew, your youth will come to you.

4The Lord has sworn and will not change his mind,[#Heb 5.6, 10; 6.20; 7.11, 15, 21]

“You are a priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.”

5The Lord is at your right hand;[#Ps 2.5, 12; 16.8; Rom 2.5; Rev 11.18]

he will shatter kings on the day of his wrath.

6He will execute judgment among the nations,[#Ps 68.21; Isa 2.4; 66.24]

filling them with corpses;

he will shatter heads

over the wide earth.

7He will drink from the stream by the path;[#Ps 27.6]

therefore he will lift up his head.
