Micah 7

Wait Upon Yahweh

1Woe is me! For I have become

when there is no cluster of grapes to eat

2The faithful person has perished from the land,

All of them lie in wait;

3Their hands are upon evil, to do it well;

and the great man utters the evil desire of his soul;

4The best of them is like a brier;

The day of your watchman, your punishment, has come;

5Do not put faith in a friend;

Guard the doorways of your mouth

6For a son treats a father with contempt;

a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law;

7But as for me, I will look to Yahweh;

8You should not rejoice over me, O my enemy!

when I sit in darkness

9I will bear the rage of Yahweh,

until he pleads my cause

He will bring me out to the light;

10Then my enemy will see,

“Where is Yahweh your God?”

now she will become a trampling place,

11A day for building your walls;

12On that day he will come to you

and from Egypt to the River,

13But the earth will be a desolation

14Shepherd your people with your staff,

those dwelling alone in a forest

Let them feed in Bashan and Gilead,

15As in the days when you came out

16The nations will see and be ashamed

They will lay the hand on the mouth;

17They will lick the dust like the serpent,

They will come trembling from their strongholds

18Who is a God like you, forgiving sin

He does not retain his anger forever,

19He will again have compassion on us;[#Literally “He will return, he will have compassion”]

And you will hurl all their sins

20You will show faithfulness to Jacob,

as you have sworn to our ancestors
