¹Great is the Lord , and greatly to be praised

in the city of our God, in His holy mountain.

²Beautiful in elevation,

the joy of the whole earth,

is Mount Zion on the sides of the north,

the city of the great King.

³Within her citadels God is known

as a refuge.

⁴For behold, the kings assembled;

they passed by together.

⁵They saw it, and so they were astounded;

they were troubled; they took to flight.

⁶Trembling took hold of them there,

and pain, as of a woman in labor,

⁷as when You break the ships of Tarshish[#1Ki 22:48]

with an east wind.

⁸As we have heard,

so have we seen

in the city of the Lord of Hosts,

in the city of our God;

God will establish it forever. Selah

⁹We have thought on Your lovingkindness, O God,[#Ps 26:3; 40:10]

in the midst of Your temple.

¹⁰According to Your name, O God,[#Dt 28:58; Jos 7:9]

so is Your praise to the ends of the earth;

Your right hand is full of righteousness.

¹¹Let Mount Zion rejoice;

let the daughters of Judah be glad,

because of Your judgments.

¹²Walk about Zion, and go all around her;

count her towers;

¹³mark well her bulwarks;

go through her citadels,

that you may tell the next generation

¹⁴that this is God, our God forever and ever;

He will be our guide forever.
