chapter nineteen

and it is happened, when Apollos was in Corinth, did Paul, after to go through the interior parts of (Minor) Asia, come to Ephesus; and when he did (there) find some disciples,

did he to them say: (question) had you (PL) received were the Spirit the Holy, when you (PL) did become believers? did they say to him: we have even not heard, if there finds self a Spirit the Holy.

did he say: into what then did you (PL) self mikveh immersed? and they did say: in the mikveh of repentance of John.

did Paul say: John's mikveh was a mikveh of repentance, saying to the people, that they should believe in the one, who will come after him, that means in Yehoshua.

and on hearing this, did they themselves let immersed be in the mikveh in the name of the L-rd Yehoshua.

and when Paul did lay on them the hands, did the Spirit the Holy come on them; and they did speak with tongues and prophecies said.

and they all are was an about twelve men.

and he is gone in in synagogue, and did speak with boldness during of three months, holding debates and convincing about the kingdom of Hashem.

when however some did hard make their hearts and did not believe, speaking evil in relation to the way of (Hashem) before the crowd, did he go away from them, and did separate the disciples, and daily spoke in the house of learning yeshiva of a certain Tyrannus.

the these is went on two years long, so, that all inhabitants of (Minor) Asia, Jews and Greeks, did hear the word of the L-rd.

and Hashem has done extraordinary wonders through the hands of Paul;

such, that they used to take away from his body kerchiefs or aprons to the sick, and the diseases did them leave, and the evil spirits went out.

and some of the Jewish wanderers, masters of repute, did undertake to call upon the name of the L-rd Yehoshua for the (ones), who did have evil spirits, so to say: I adjure you (PL) by Yehoshua, whom Paul calls out!

and the (ones), who had this done are were seven sons of a certain Skeva, a Jew, one of the “great priests”.

and the evil spirit did answer and said to them: Yehoshua know I, Paul know I also; who however are you (PL)?

and the man, in whom was the evil spirit, did upon them a leap done, and overpowered both of them, and them (thus) defeated, that they did run away from that house naked and wounded.

and the these is known become to all Jews and Greeks, who did live in Ephesus; and a fear did fall on them all, and the L-rd Yeshua's name was raised up become.

and a many of the (ones), who did believe, did come and self confess was and report of their (earlier) deeds.

and a many of the (ones), who have self participated in magic/witchcraft, did bring together their (occult) books, and them burned before everyone in the eyes; and there (be) has counted up their worth, and found (that it did amount to) fifty thousand pieces of silver.

so powerful did grow the word of the L-rd and has itself strengthen.

and after the as the these things did happen, did Paul resolve in his spirit, that when he will have passed through Macedonia and Achaia, to travel to Jerusalem, and did say: after the when I will there be, must I also see Rome.

and dispatching to Macedonia two of the (ones), who did him aid, Timothy and Erastus, did he himself still remain a certain time in (Minor) Asia.

and around that time is happened not any small turmoil about the (Meshichistim) way of (Hashem).

because a certain man, with the name Demetrius, a silversmith, who used to make silver miniture shrines of Artemis, and give the craftsmen not any small income;

(he) did them gather and the (other) masters of trades of such items, and said: men, you (PL) know, that by the this work have we our prosperity.

and you (PL) see and hear, that not only in Ephesus, but almost in all (Minor) Asia did the this one Paul persuade and deserted a significant crowd of people, saying, that this are not any g-ds, which are made with hands;

and it is a danger, that not only our trade will become to mockery, but even the temple of the great g-ddess Artemis will for nought regarded become; and it could yet be, that there will taken away be the magnificence of her, whom all (Minor) Asia and the populated world worship.

and when they did this hear, did they become filled with wrath, and did shout, so to say: great is the Artemis of the Ephesians!

and the city is full become from the turmoil; and everyone together did storm to the theater, pulling along Gaius and Aristarchus, Macedonian, Paul's companions on the journey.

when however Paul has wanted to go in among the people (mob), did the disciples him not permit.

and also some of the high officials (Asiarchs) of (Minor) Asia, being his friends, did send to him, and begged he shall himself not risk to come into theater into.

and they did shout, a part one thing, others something else, because the assembly was confused; and the most did not know, because of what they were themselves come together.

and from this crowd have they drag out Alexander, whom the Jews did push forward. and Alexander did make a sign with the hand, and wanted to make a defense speech before people (mob).

finding out (in anti-Semitism) themselves however, that he is a Jew, did all shout with one voice during of almost two hour; great is Artemis (the g-ddess) of the Ephesians!

and the city scribe, calming down the crowd people, did say: o men of Ephesus, (question) finds self then anyone among people, who knows not, that the city of the Ephesians is the temple keeper of the great Artemis and of her image, which did fall down from heaven?

therefore, since as there can the these things not dispute be, did you (PL) yourselves should keep calm, and nothing do in rashness.

because you (PL) have brought hither the these people, who are not any temple robbers, nor any blasphemers of our g-ddess.

therefore, if Demetrius and the craft workers with him have actually something a complaint against anyone, are (after all) being held publicly daily by courts, and there are here proconsuls; should they accuse one the other.

if however you (PL) seek something else, will it resolved become at the legal assembly.

because we are also in a danger, accused to become about an insurgency on account of this today action, because it is not any reason, with which we shall can account for the this riot.

and when he did this say, did he dismiss the assembly.
