Deuteronomy 10

Deuteronomy 10

New Pair of Tablets

At that time YHWH said to me, “You are to cut two stone tablets like the first, and come up to me onto the mountain, and make an ark of wood.

I will write on the tablets the words that were on the first tablets which you broke, and you are to place them in the ark.”

So I made an ark of acacia wood, and cut two stone tablets like the first, and went up onto the mountain with the two tablets in my hand.

Hᴇ wrote on the tablets, according to the first writing, the ten commandments, which YHWH spoke to y’all on the mountain from the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly. Then YHWH gave them to me.

I turned and came down from the mountain and put the tablets in the ark which I had made. And there they are now as YHWH commanded me.

(The children of Israel traveled from Beeroth Bene Jaakan to Moserah. There Aaron died, and there he was buried. Eleazar his son ministered in the priest’s office in his place.

From there they traveled to Gudgodah, and from Gudgodah to Jotbathah, a land of brooks of water.

At that time YHWH set apart the tribe of Levi to bear the ark of YHWH’s covenant, to stand before YHWH to minister to ʜɪᴍ, and to bless in ʜɪꜱ name, to this day.

For this reason, Levi has no portion nor inheritance like his brothers. YHWH is his inheritance, just as YHWH your God told him.)

I stayed on the mountain, as at the first time, forty days and forty nights. YHWH listened to me that time also, and YHWH decided not destroy you.

YHWH said to me, “Get up and take your journey before the people, so they may go in and possess the land which I swore to their ancestors to give to them.”

Fear YHWH

Now, Israel, what does YHWH your God require of you, but to fear YHWH your God, to walk in all ʜɪꜱ ways, to love ʜɪᴍ, and to serve YHWH your God with all your heart and with all your soul,

to keep YHWH’s commandments and statutes, which I command you today for your good?

Look, the heavens—indeed, the heavens of the heavens—to YHWH your God belongs, along with the earth and all that is in it.

But YHWH set ʜɪꜱ delight and love on y’all’s ancestors alone. Hᴇ chose y’all their descendants after them, above all peoples, as it is today.

Therefore, y’all must circumcise the foreskin of y’all’s heart, and y’all must stop being so stiff-necked.

For YHWH y’all’s God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome, who does not choose some faces above others or take bribes.

Hᴇ executes justice for the fatherless and widow and loves the foreigner, giving them food and clothing.

Therefore y’all are to love the foreigner, for y’all were foreigners in the land of Egypt.

You are to fear YHWH your God and serve ʜɪᴍ. You must cling to ʜɪᴍ and swear by ʜɪꜱ name.

Hᴇ is the one you praise, and ʜᴇ is your God, who has done for you these great and awesome things which your eyes have seen.

Your ancestors went down into Egypt with seventy persons, and now YHWH your God has made you as the stars of the sky for multitude.
