Proverbs 12

¹He who loves discipline loves knowledge,

²The good obtains favor from Yahweh,

³A person will not be established by wickedness,

⁴A woman of strength is the crown of her master,[#Or “honor”; #Or “lord, owner”]

⁵The thoughts of the righteous are just;[#Hebrew “is”]

⁶The words of the wicked are an ambush of blood,

⁷The wicked are overthrown and are no more,[#Literally “there is no them”]

⁸For his mouth of good sense, a man will be recommended,

⁹It is better to be lowly and a servant to someone[#Literally “for him,” “belonging to him”]

¹⁰The righteous knows the life of his animal,[#Or “soul,” or “inner self”]

¹¹He who works his land will have plenty of food,

¹²The wicked covets the proceeds of evil,

¹³By the transgression of lips, evil is ensnared,

¹⁴From the fruit of the mouth of a man, he is filled with good,

¹⁵The way of a fool is upright in his own eyes,

¹⁶As for a fool, on that very day he makes his anger known,[#Literally “on the day”]

¹⁷He who will speak truth will reveal righteousness,

¹⁸There is one who speaks rashly, like the thrust of a sword,

¹⁹A lip of truth endures forever,

²⁰Deceit is in the heart of those who plan evil,[#Or “mind”; #Literally “the planners of”]

²¹No evil will happen to the righteous,[#Literally “All evil will not happen”]

²²An abomination of Yahweh are lips of deceit,

²³A clever person conceals knowledge,

²⁴The hand of the diligent ones will rule,

²⁵Anxiety in the heart of a man will weigh him down,[#Or “mind”]

²⁶A righteous person will seek out his neighbor,

²⁷The lazy will not roast his game,

²⁸On the road of righteousness is life,
