¹God has taken His place in the divine council;

He renders judgment among the gods.

²“How long will you judge unjustly

and show partiality to the wicked? Selah

³Defend the poor and the fatherless;

do justice to the afflicted and the needy.

⁴Rescue the poor and the needy;[#Job 29:12]

deliver them from the hand of the wicked.

⁵“They have neither knowledge nor understanding;[#Mic 3:1]

they walk around in darkness;

all the foundations of the earth are shaken.”

⁶I said, “You are gods,[#Jn 10:34]

sons of the Most High, all of you;

⁷but you shall die like men,[#Ps 49:12; Eze 31:14]

and fall like one of the princes.”

⁸Arise, O God, judge the earth;

for You shall inherit all the nations.
