Psalms 114

Psalms 114

The Power of God in His Deliverance of Israel

1When Israel went out of Egypt,[#Ex. 12:51; 13:3]

The house of Jacob from a people of strange language,

2Judah became His sanctuary,[#Ex. 6:7; 19:6; 25:8; 29:45, 46; Deut. 27:9]

And Israel His dominion.

3The sea saw it and fled;[#Ex. 14:21; Ps. 77:16]

Jordan turned back.

4The mountains skipped like rams,[#Ex. 19:18; Judg. 5:5; Ps. 29:6; Hab. 3:6]

The little hills like lambs.

5What ails you, O sea, that you fled?[#Hab. 3:8]

O Jordan, that you turned back?

6O mountains, that you skipped like rams?

O little hills, like lambs?

7Tremble, O earth, at the presence of the Lord,

At the presence of the God of Jacob,

8Who turned the rock into a pool of water,[#Ex. 17:6; Num. 20:11; Ps. 107:35]

The flint into a fountain of waters.
