Psalms 23

Psalms 23

The Lord the Shepherd of His People

1The Lord is my shepherd;[#Ps. 78:52; 80:1; (Is. 40:11); Ezek. 34:11, 12; (John 10:11; 1 Pet. 2:25; Rev. 7:16, 17)]

I shall not want.

2He makes me to lie down in green pastures;[#Ps. 65:11–13; Ezek. 34:14]

He leads me beside the still waters.

3He restores my soul;

He leads me in the paths of righteousness

For His name’s sake.

4Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,[#Job 3:5; 10:21, 22; 24:17; Ps. 44:19]

I will fear no evil;

For You are with me;

Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

5You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;[#Ps. 104:15]

You anoint my head with oil;

My cup runs over.

6Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me

All the days of my life;

And I will dwell in the house of the Lord

Forever.
