Psalms 84

Psalms 84

The Blessedness of Dwelling in the House of God

1How lovely is Your tabernacle,[#Ps. 27:4; 46:4, 5]

O Lord of hosts!

2My soul longs, yes, even faints[#Ps. 42:1, 2]

For the courts of the Lord ;

My heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.

3Even the sparrow has found a home,

And the swallow a nest for herself,

Where she may lay her young—

Even Your altars, O Lord of hosts,

My King and my God.

4Blessed are those who dwell in Your house;[#(Ps. 65:4)]

They will still be praising You.

Selah

5Blessed is the man whose strength is in You,

Whose heart is set on pilgrimage.

6As they pass through the Valley of Baca,[#2 Sam. 5:22–25]

They make it a spring;

The rain also covers it with pools.

7They go from strength to strength;[#Prov. 4:18; Is. 40:31; John 1:16; 2 Cor. 3:18]

Each one appears before God in Zion.

8O Lord God of hosts, hear my prayer;

Give ear, O God of Jacob!

Selah

9O God, behold our shield,[#Gen. 15:1]

And look upon the face of Your anointed.

10For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand.

I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God

Than dwell in the tents of wickedness.

11For the Lord God is a sun and shield;[#Is. 60:19, 20; Mal. 4:2; Rev. 21:23; #Gen. 15:1]

The Lord will give grace and glory;

No good thing will He withhold

From those who walk uprightly.

12O Lord of hosts,

Blessed is the man who trusts in You!
