-2From Paul, an apostle, and from all the brothers and sisters who are with me. I have not been sent by any human group or leader. I’ve been sent by Jesus Christ and by God the Father, who raised him from the dead.
To the churches in Galatia.
May God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ give you grace and peace. In obedience to the will of our God and Father,
Jesus gave his life for our sins. He did this to set us free from the evil age we’re now living in.
May God receive glory forever and ever! Amen.
I’m amazed that after such a short time, you’re abandoning the one who called you to live in the grace of Christ. You’re turning to a different “good news”—
which is not good news at all. It seems that some people have gotten you all confused by twisting the good news about Christ.
Don’t let anyone preach a “good news” to you that’s different from the one we first told you about. Don’t let us do that, and don’t let even an angel from heaven do it. If anyone does, let them fall under God’s curse!
I’ll say it again: If anyone preaches a “good news” to you that’s different from what you accepted, let them fall under God’s curse!
Now do I sound like somebody who wants people to think well of me? Or do I sound like somebody who wants God to think well of me? If I were still trying to please people, I wouldn’t be serving Christ.
I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that the good news I preached to you didn’t come from human beings.
Nobody gave it to me or taught it to me. Instead, Jesus Christ revealed it to me.
You’ve heard how I lived earlier as a follower of Judaism. I attacked the church of God mercilessly, and I tried to destroy it.
I had studied Judaism in depth, more so than most Jews my age. That was because I was so devoted to the teachings passed down from those who’d lived before us.
But God had set me apart before I was born and called me by his grace. When he was pleased
to reveal his Son in my life so I could preach about him to the Gentiles, I didn’t consult any human being.
I didn’t go up to Jerusalem to see those who were apostles before I was. Instead, I went into Arabia. Later I returned to Damascus.
Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to get to know Peter. I stayed with him for 15 days.
I didn’t see any of the other apostles. I only saw James, the Lord’s brother.
As God is my witness, I’m telling you the truth.
Then I went to Syria and Cilicia.
The synagogues in Judea that believe in Christ had never seen me in person.
They’d only heard others say, “The man who used to attack us is now preaching the faith he once tried to destroy.”
And they praised God because of me.
