¹Rejoice in the Lord , O you righteous!

Praise is becoming to the upright.

²Praise the Lord with the harp;

make music to Him with an instrument of ten strings.

³Sing to Him a new song;[#Ps 96:1; Isa 42:10]

play skillfully with a shout of joy.

⁴For the word of the Lord is upright,[#Ps 19:8; 119:75]

and all His work is done in truth.

⁵He loves righteousness and justice;[#Ps 11:7]

the earth is full of the lovingkindness of the Lord .

⁶By the word of the Lord the heavens were made,[#Heb 11:3]

and all their host by the breath of His mouth.

⁷He gathers the waters of the sea together as a heap;[#Ex 15:8; Jos 3:16]

He puts the deeps in storehouses.

⁸Let all the earth fear the Lord ;

let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him.

⁹For He spoke, and it was done;[#Ge 1:3]

He commanded, and it stood fast.

¹⁰The Lord brings the counsel of the nations to nothing;[#Isa 19:3]

He makes the plans of the people of no effect.

¹¹The counsel of the Lord stands forever,[#Pr 19:21]

the plans of His heart to all generations.

¹²Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord ,[#Dt 33:29; Ps 144:15]

the people whom He has chosen as His inheritance.

¹³The Lord looks down from heaven;[#Job 28:24]

He sees all the sons of men.

¹⁴From the place of His habitation He gazes[#1Ki 8:39]

on all the inhabitants of the earth;

¹⁵He fashions the hearts of them all;

He considers all their works.

¹⁶No king is saved by a great army;

a mighty man is not delivered by great strength.

¹⁷A horse is a vain hope for safety;[#Ps 20:7; Pr 21:31]

it will not deliver by its great strength.

¹⁸Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear Him,[#Job 36:7; Ps 147:11]

on those who hope in His lovingkindness,

¹⁹to deliver their soul from death,

and to keep them alive in famine.

²⁰Our soul waits for the Lord ;

He is our help and our shield.

²¹For our heart will rejoice in Him,[#Zec 10:7; Jn 16:22]

because we have trusted in His holy name.

²²Let Your lovingkindness, O Lord , be upon us,

just as we hope in You.
