Corinthians 13

Corinthians 13

If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not love, I have become as sounding brass or a clanging cymbal.[#1Co 6:3; 11:10; 2Co 12:4]

If I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not love, I am nothing.[#Mt 21:21]

If I give all my goods to feed the poor, and if I give my body to be burned, and have not love, it profits me nothing.

Love suffers long and is kind; love envies not; love flaunts not itself and is not puffed up,[#Col 3:12]

does not behave itself improperly, seeks not its own, is not easily provoked, thinks no evil;[#1Co 10:24; Php 2:21]

rejoices not in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth;[#Ro 1:32; #2Jn 4]

bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things.[#1Co 13:4]

Love never fails. But if there are prophecies, they shall fail; if there are tongues, they shall cease; and if there is knowledge, it shall vanish.

For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.[#1Co 8:2; 13:12]

But when that which is perfect comes, then that which is imperfect shall pass away.

When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, and I thought as a child. But when I became a man, I put away childish things.

For now we see as through a glass, dimly, but then, face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know, even as I also am known.[#2Co 5:7; 1Jn 3:2]

So now abide faith, hope, and love, these three. But the greatest of these is love.[#1Co 16:14; Gal 5:6]
