1The hand of the Lord was upon me, and He carried me out in the Spirit of the Lord and set me down in the midst of the valley which was full of bones.[#Eze 1:3; #Eze 8:3]
2And He led me around among them, and behold, there were very many in the open valley, and behold, they were very dry.
3He said to me, “Son of man, can these bones live?”
And I answered, “O Lord God , You know.”

5Thus says the Lord God to these bones: Behold, I will cause breath to enter you so that you live.[#Ge 2:7; Ps 104:29–30]

7So I prophesied as I was commanded. And as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold, a rattling, and the bones came together, bone to its bone.
8And I looked, and behold, the sinews and the flesh grew upon them, and the skin covered them. But there was no breath in them.
9Then He said to me, “Prophesy to the wind; prophesy, son of man, and say to the wind: Thus says the Lord God : Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain so that they live.”
10So I prophesied as He commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived and stood up upon their feet, an exceeding great army.[#Rev 11:11]
11Then He said to me, “Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel. Behold, they say, ‘Our bones are dried up, and our hope is lost. We are cut off completely.’[#Ps 141:7]
12Therefore prophesy and say to them, Thus says the Lord God : Behold, I will open your graves and cause you to come up out of your graves and bring you into the land of Israel.[#Isa 26:19; Hos 13:14]
13Then you shall know that I am the Lord , when I have opened your graves, O My people, and brought you up out of your graves.

15The word of the Lord came again to me, saying:
16Moreover, son of man, take one stick and write on it: “For Judah and for the sons of Israel his companions.” Then take another stick and write on it, “For Joseph the stick of Ephraim and for all the house of Israel his companions.”[#Nu 17:2–3; 2Ch 15:9]
17Then join them to one another into one stick so that they become one in your hand.[#Isa 11:13; Jer 50:4]
18When the sons of your people speak to you, saying, “Will you not show us what you mean by these things?”[#Eze 12:9; 24:19]
19say to them, Thus says the Lord God : Behold, I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel his companions, and will put them with it, with the stick of Judah, and make them one stick; and they shall be one in My hand.[#Zec 10:6]
