Proverbs 12

Proverbs 12

1Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge,

but he who hates reproof is stupid.

2A good man obtains favor from the Lord ,[#Pr 8:35]

but a man of evil devices will He condemn.

3A man is not established by wickedness,

but the root of the righteous will not be moved.

4A virtuous wife is the crown of her husband,

but a wife who shames him is like rottenness in his bones.

5The thoughts of the righteous are just,

but the counsels of the wicked are deceitful.

6The words of the wicked lie in wait for blood,

but the speech of the upright will deliver them.

7The wicked are overthrown and are no more,[#Pr 11:21]

but the house of the righteous will stand.

8According to his wisdom will a man be praised,

but the perverse of heart will be despised.

9Better is he who is despised and yet has a servant

than he who honors himself and yet has no bread.

10A righteous man tends to the life of his animal,[#Dt 25:4]

but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.

11He who tills his land will have plenty of bread,

but he who chases worthless pursuits lacks wisdom.

12The wicked covet the plunder of evil men,

but the root of the righteous yields fruit.

13The wicked is ensnared by the transgression of his lips,[#Ps 64:8]

but the righteous will escape from trouble.

14A man will be satisfied with good by the fruit of his words,[#Pr 13:2]

and the work of a man’s hands will be recompensed to him.

15The way of a fool is right in his own eyes,[#Pr 16:2, 25]

but he who is wise listens to counsel.

16A fool’s anger is shown at once,

but a prudent man ignores an insult.

17A truthful witness tells what is right,

but a false witness, deceit.

18The words of the rash are like the piercings of a sword,[#Ps 57:4]

but the tongue of the wise brings healing.

19Truthful lips will endure forever,

but a lying tongue will endure for a moment.

20Deceit is in the heart of those who devise evil,

but joy comes to the counselors of peace.

21No harm will overtake the righteous,[#Ps 91:10]

but the wicked will be filled with trouble.

22Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord ,[#Pr 11:20; Rev 22:15]

but those who act faithfully are His delight.

23A prudent man conceals knowledge,

but the heart of fools proclaims folly.

24The hand of the diligent will rule,[#Pr 10:4; 13:4]

but the lazy will be put to forced labor.

25Anxiety in the heart of man weighs it down,[#Pr 15:13]

but a good word cheers it up.

26The righteous is a guide to his neighbor,

but the way of the wicked leads them astray.

27The lazy man does not roast his game,

but diligence is the precious wealth of man.

28In the path of righteousness is life,

and in that path is no death.
