Psalms 30

Psalms 30

1I will extol You, O Lord , for You have lifted me up,

and have not let my foes rejoice over me.

2O Lord my God, I cried out to You,[#Ps 88:13]

and You healed me.

3O Lord , You brought my soul up from Sheol;

You have kept me alive, so that I should not go down to the pit.

4Sing to the Lord , you saints of His,

and give thanks at the remembrance of His holy name.

5For His anger endures but for a moment;[#Ps 103:9; 2Co 4:17]

His favor is for a lifetime;

weeping may linger for the night,

but joy comes in the morning.

6In my prosperity I said,

“I shall never be moved.”

7Lord , by Your favor

You made me stand as a strong mountain;

You hid Your face,

and I was dismayed.

8I cried to You, O Lord ,

and to the Lord I made supplication:

9“What profit is there in my death,

if I go down to the pit?

Will the dust praise You?

Will it declare Your faithfulness?

10Hear, O Lord , and be gracious to me;

Lord , be my helper.”

11You have turned my mourning into dancing;[#Ps 149:3; 150:4; Jer 31:4]

You have taken off my sackcloth and girded me with gladness,

12so that my soul may sing praise to You and not be silent.

O Lord my God, I will give thanks to You forever.
