¹Blessed is he

whose transgression is forgiven,

whose sin is covered.

²Blessed is the man

against whom the Lord imputes no iniquity,

and in whose spirit there is no deceit.

³When I kept silent,

my body wasted away

through my groaning all day long.

⁴For day and night

Your hand was heavy upon me;

my strength was turned

into the drought of summer. Selah

⁵I acknowledged my sin to You,[#Ps 38:18; Pr 28:13]

and my iniquity I did not conceal.

I said, “I will confess

my transgressions to the Lord ,”

and You forgave

the iniquity of my sin. Selah

⁶For this cause everyone who is godly will pray to You

in a time when You may be found;

surely in the flood of great waters,

they shall not reach him.

⁷You are my hiding place;

You will preserve me from trouble;

You will surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah

⁸I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;

I will counsel you with my eye upon you.

⁹Do not be like the horse or like the mule,

which have no understanding,

which must be restrained with bit and bridle,

or they will not come near you.

¹⁰Many are the sorrows of the wicked,[#Pr 13:21]

but lovingkindness will surround

the man who trusts in the Lord .

¹¹Be glad in the Lord and rejoice, you righteous ones;[#Ps 68:3; 97:12]

and shout for joy, all you who are upright in heart!
