Psalms 146

Psalm 146

Praise for God’s Help

1Praise the Lord ![#Ps 103.1]

Praise the Lord , O my soul!

2I will praise the Lord as long as I live;[#Ps 104.33]

I will sing praises to my God all my life long.

3Do not put your trust in princes,[#Ps 118.8; Isa 2.22]

in mortals, in whom there is no help.

4When their breath departs, they return to the earth;[#Ps 104.29; Eccl 12.7]

on that very day their plans perish.

5Happy are those whose help is the God of Jacob,[#Ps 71.5; 144.15]

whose hope is in the Lord their God,

6who made heaven and earth,[#Ps 117.2; Acts 14.15]

the sea, and all that is in them;

who keeps faith forever;

7who executes justice for the oppressed;[#Ps 68.6; 103.6; 107.9]

who gives food to the hungry.

The Lord sets the prisoners free;

8the Lord opens the eyes of the blind.[#Ps 145.14; Mt 9.30; Jn 9.7]

The Lord lifts up those who are bowed down;

the Lord loves the righteous.

9The Lord watches over the strangers;[#Ex 22.21; Ps 68.5; 147.6]

he upholds the orphan and the widow,

but the way of the wicked he brings to ruin.

10The Lord will reign forever,[#Ex 15.18; Ps 10.16; Rev 11.15]

your God, O Zion, for all generations.

Praise the Lord !
