2 Timothy 4

2 Timothy 4

1I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom:[#1Ti 5:21; #Ac 10:42]

2Preach the word, be ready in season and out of season, reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with all patience and teaching.[#Titus 1:13; 2:15]

3For the time will come when people will not endure sound teaching, but they will gather to themselves teachers in accordance with their own desires, having itching ears,[#1Ti 1:10]

4and they will turn their ears away from the truth and turn to myths.[#1Ti 1:4; 4:7]

5But be self-controlled in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, and prove your ministry.[#2Ti 1:8; #Ac 21:8]

6For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure has come.[#Php 2:17; #Php 1:23]

7I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, and I have kept the faith.[#1Ti 6:12; #Ac 20:24]

8From now on a crown of righteousness is laid up for me, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on that Day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved His appearing.[#Col 1:5; #2Ti 1:12]

Personal Instructions

9Diligently try to come to me soon.[#2Ti 1:4; 4:21]

10Demas has forsaken me, having loved this present world, and has departed to Thessalonica, Crescens to Galatia, and Titus to Dalmatia.[#Ac 16:6; 17:1]

11Only Luke is with me. Get Mark, and bring him with you, for he is profitable to me for the ministry.[#Col 4:14; #Ac 12:12]

12I sent Tychicus to Ephesus.[#Ac 20:4; Eph 6:21]

13When you come, bring with you the cloak that I left at Troas with Carpus, and the books, but especially the parchments.[#Ac 16:8]

14Alexander the coppersmith did me much evil. May the Lord reward him according to his works.[#1Ti 1:20; #Ps 28:4]

15Beware of him, for he has greatly opposed our words.

16At my first defense no one stood with me, but everyone forsook me. May it not be charged against them.[#Ac 7:60]

17But the Lord stood with me and strengthened me, so that through me the preaching might be fully known, and that all the Gentiles might hear. And I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.[#Ac 9:15; #Ps 22:21]

18The Lord will deliver me from every evil work and will preserve me for His heavenly kingdom, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.[#Ps 121:7; #Ro 11:36]

Final Greetings

19Greet Priscilla and Aquila and the household of Onesiphorus.[#Ac 18:2]

20Erastus remained at Corinth, and I have left Trophimus ill in Miletus.[#Ac 19:22; #Ac 20:4]

21Diligently try to come before winter. Eubulus greets you, and so do Pudens, Linus, Claudia, and all the brothers.[#2Ti 4:9]

22The Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Grace be with you. Amen.[#Gal 6:18; Col 4:18; 1Ti 6:21; Titus 3:15]
