Psalms 2

Psalms 2

1Why do the nations rage,[#Ps 46:6; Rev 17:14]

and the peoples plot in vain?

2The kings of the earth set themselves,[#Ps 48:4]

and the rulers take counsel together,

against the Lord

and against His anointed, saying,

3“Let us tear off their bonds

and cast away their ropes from us.”

4He who sits in the heavens laughs;[#Ps 37:13; 59:8]

the Lord ridicules them.

5Then He will speak to them in His wrath

and terrify them in His burning anger:

6“I have set My king

on Zion, My holy hill.”

7I will declare the decree of the Lord :

He said to me, “You are My son;

today have I begotten you.

8Ask of Me,

and I will give you the nations for your inheritance,

and the ends of the earth for your possession.

9You will break them with a rod of iron;[#Ps 89:23; Rev 12:5]

you will dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.”

10Now then, you kings, be wise;

be admonished, you judges of the earth.

11Serve the Lord with fear;

and tremble with trepidation!

12Kiss the son, lest He become angry,[#1Sa 10:1; Jn 5:23]

and you perish in the way,

when His wrath is kindled but a little.

Blessed are all who seek refuge in Him.
