Psalms 84

Psalms 84

1How lovely is Your dwelling place,[#Ps 27:4]

O Lord of Hosts!

2My soul longs and even yearns

for the courtyards of the Lord ;

my heart and my flesh cry out

for the living God.

3Even the sparrow has found a home,

and the swallow a nest for herself,

where she may lay her young,

at Your altars,

O Lord of Hosts, my King and my God.

4Blessed are those who dwell in Your house;[#Ps 65:4]

they will still be praising You. Selah

5Blessed is the man whose strength is in You,

in whose heart are the paths to Zion.

6As they pass through the Valley of Baca,

they make it a spring;

the early rain also covers it with pools.

7They go from strength to strength;[#Pr 4:18]

every one of them appears in Zion before God.

8O Lord God of Hosts, hear my prayer;

give ear, O God of Jacob! Selah

9Behold our shield, O God,[#Ge 15:1]

and look upon the face of Your anointed.

10For a day in Your courtyards is better

than a thousand elsewhere.

I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God

than dwell in the tents of wickedness.

11For the Lord God is a sun and shield;[#Pr 2:7; Rev 21:23]

the Lord will give grace and glory;

no good thing will He withhold

from those who walk uprightly.

12O Lord of Hosts,

blessed is the man who trusts in You.
