¹Be gracious to me, O God, for man would trample on me;[#Ps 57:1–3]

fighting all day long he oppresses me.

²My enemies would trample on me all day long,

for there are many who fight against me, O Most High.

³When I am afraid,[#Ps 55:4–5]

I will trust in You.

⁴In God, whose word I praise,

in God have I put my trust; I will not fear.

What can mere flesh do to me?

⁵All day they twist my words;[#2Pe 3:16]

all their thoughts are against me for evil.

⁶They stir up strife, they lurk,

they watch my steps,

when they wait for my life.

⁷For their wickedness will they escape?

In Your anger cast down the peoples, O God.

⁸You keep count of my wanderings;

put my tears in Your bottle;

are they not in Your book?

⁹Then my enemies will turn back

in the day when I call;

this I know, that God is for me.

¹⁰In God, whose word I praise,

in the Lord , whose word I praise,

¹¹in God have I put my trust; I will not fear.

What can man do to me?

¹²My vows to You are binding upon me, O God;

I will render thank offerings to You;

¹³for You have delivered my soul from death,

and kept my feet from falling,

that I may walk before God

in the light of the living.
