chapter eighteen

⁸therefore in one day will they come, the plagues her, the death and anguish and famine; and she will burned be in fire; because strong is the L-rd G-d, who judges her.

⁹and weeping and lamenting will over her the kings of the earth, who did with her fornication were and self let feast, when they will look upon the smoke of her fire;

¹⁰from a distance will they remain standing on account of the fear of her suffering, and will say: woe, woe, the city the great, Babylon, the city the mighty! because in one hour is her judgment come.

¹¹and the merchants of the earth weep and lament over her, because anyone buys not longer their merchandise;

¹²merchandise of gold and of silver and of precious stones and of pearls and of fine linen and of purple and of silk and of scarlet, and every scented wood and all kinds of vessels of ivory and all vessels of expensive wood and of copper/brass and iron and marble,

¹³and cinnamon and balsam and incense spices and myrrh and frankincense and wine and olive oil and fine flour and wheat and pack beasts and sheep, and horses and wagons, and slaves and human souls.

¹⁴and the fruit, which your soul did desire, did go away from you (SG), and everything beautiful and shiny has (for) you (sg) lost gone, and they will them never way more not find.

¹⁵the these merchants, who did from her rich become, will stand from a distance on account of the dread of her suffering, and will weep and mourn, saying:

¹⁶woe, woe, the great city, which was dressed in satins and purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and costly stones and pearls!

¹⁷that in one (single) hour did such riches laid waste become. and every steersman/ship's pilot, and every one, who travels (from place) to place on a ship, and sailor, and all, who work on the sea, did stand from a distance,

¹⁸and did shout, seeing the smoke from her burning, so to say: which (among cities) is equal to the great city?

¹⁹and did throw dust on their heads, and shouted, weeping and wailing, in this way to say: woe, woe, you (SG) great city! in which are rich become all, who have had ships on the sea, of her prosperity! that in one (single) hour is she destroyed become.

²⁰rejoice yourself over her, o heaven, and the saints, and the Shlichim, and the Prophets; because Hashem has judged your verdict on her.

²¹and a stronger angel did lift up a stone, like a great millstone, and it threw in sea into, saying: with such impetus o will Babylon, the great city, destroyed be, and itself at last more not find!

²²and any sound of harpists/lyrists and singers and players on a flute and trumpeters will at last more not heard be in you (SG); and any artists of any kind of art will in you (SG) more not found be; and the sound of a mill will more not heard be in you (SG);

²³and the light of a candlestick will more not to shine in you (SG); and the voice of a bridegroom and a bride will more not heard be in you (SG); because your merchants had been the rulers of the earth; because by your magic did become deceived all nations.

²⁴and in her is found become the blood of the prophets and saints, and of all the slain on the earth.
