chapter ten

¹brothers, the desire of my heart and my prayer to Hashem is for their salvation.

²because I tell them witness, that they have a zeal for Hashem, however not according to knowledge.

³because not knowing the righteousness of Hashem and seeking to raise up their own, have they themselves not subject made to the righteousness of Hashem,

⁴because the purpose of the Torah is the Moshiach to righteousness for every one, who believes.

⁵because Moses writes about the righteousness of the Torah, that the man, who will it do, will through it live. (Leviticus 18, 5.)

⁶however the righteousness of faith says thus: say not in your heart, who will go up into heaven into? that means, to bring down Moshiach,

⁷also not: who will descend into the depth (abyss)? that means, to bring up Moshiach from the dead.

⁸but what says it? this word is near to you (SG), it is in your mouth, in your heart; that means, the word of faith, which we call out;

⁹because if you (SG) will confess do with your mouth Yehoshua as L-rd, and believe with your heart, that Hashem did him rouse from the dead, you will saved become.

¹⁰because with the heart believes one to righteousness (Yeshayah 53, 11; Genesis 15, 6), and with the mouth does one confess to salvation.

¹¹because the verse says: everyone, who believes in him, will not become to shame. (Yeshayah 28, 16.)

¹²because there is not any distinction between Jew and Greek, because the same L-rd of all is rich to all, that call unto him;

¹³because every one, who will call upon the L-rd's Name, will saved to be. (Joel 3, 5)

¹⁴how then shall they call upon him, in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him, of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a owner preach?

¹⁵and how shall one preach, if one is not sent? as it stands written: how beautiful are the feet of the (ones), who bring a News of good things. (Yeshayah 52, 7.)

¹⁶however not all have obeyed the News Good; because Isaiah says: L-rd, who has believed what we did hear? (Yeshayah 53, 1.)

¹⁷so around is the faith from hearing, and the hearing by Moshiach's word.

¹⁸however I say: did they then not hear? certainly: their sound did go out over the whole earth, and until to the ends of the inhabited world—their words. (Psalms 19, 5.)

¹⁹however I say: (question) did then Israel not know? already Moses says:

I will you (PL) make jealous with that,

which is not any nation,

with a foolish nation

will I you (PL) enrage.

²⁰Isaiah however fast courage and says: I am found become of the (ones), who did me not seek, I am revealed become to the (ones), who had not asked after Me. (Yeshayah 65, 1.)

²¹however about Israel says He; the whole day did I stretch out my hands to a rebellious and disobedient people. (Yeshayah 65, 2)
