Simon Peter, a slave and apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who have received a faith as precious as ours through the righteousness of our God and Savior, Jesus Christ:
May grace and peace be multiplied to y’all in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.
Hɪꜱ divine power has granted to us everything for life and godliness, through the knowledge of ʜɪᴍ who called us by ʜɪꜱ own glory and virtue.
Through these things ʜᴇ has granted to us ʜɪꜱ precious and exceedingly great promises, so that through them y’all may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption of the world caused by evil desire.
For this very reason, y’all ought to work diligently to add to your* faith virtue, and in virtue, knowledge,
and in knowledge, self-control, and in self-control, perseverance, and in perseverance, godliness,
and in godliness, mutual affection, and in mutual affection, love.
For if y’all have these qualities and they are continually increasing, they prevent y’all from being ineffective or unproductive in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
The one lacking these things is blind and short-sighted, having forgotten the cleansing from their past sins.
Therefore, siblings, y’all must make every effort to confirm your* calling and election. For if you* do these things, y’all will never stumble.
For in this way, y’all will be abundantly provided with an entrance into the eternal Empire of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Therefore, I will continually remind y’all of these things, even though y’all know them and are established in the truth that y’all have.
As long as I am in this tabernacle, I consider it right to stir y’all up as a reminder,
knowing that my tabernacle will soon be laid aside, as our Lord Jesus Christ made clear to me.
I will make every effort that, after my departure, y’all will always be able to remember these things.
For we didn’t follow cleverly devised fables when we made known to y’all the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty.
For he received honor and glory from God the Father when the voice came to him from the Majestic Glory, “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”[#Matthew 17:5; Mark 9:7; Luke 9:35]
We heard this voice come out of heaven when we were with him on the holy mountain.
Moreover, we have the reliable, prophetic word, and y’all do well to pay attention to it like a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star arises in y’all’s hearts.
Above all, y’all must recognize that no prophecy of Scripture came from someone’s own interpretation.
For no prophecy ever came by human will, but humans spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
