Psalms 29

The Voice of the Lord

1Ascribe to Yahweh, you heavenly beings,[#Or you angels, or you sons of the mighty ; lit Lord sons of the gods]

ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.

2Ascribe to Yahweh the glory due His name;

worship Yahweh

in the splendor of His holiness.

3The voice of the Lord is above the waters.

The God of glory thunders —

the Lord , above vast waters,

4the voice of the Lord in power,

the voice of the Lord in splendor.

5The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars;

the Lord shatters the cedars of Lebanon.

6He makes Lebanon skip like a calf,[#Ps 114:4,6]

and Sirion, like a young wild ox.

7The voice of the Lord flashes flames of fire.[#Dt 4:12,33]

8The voice of the Lord shakes the wilderness;

the Lord shakes the wilderness of Kadesh.

9The voice of the Lord makes the deer give birth[#Or the oaks shake; #Jb 39:1-3]

and strips the woodlands bare.

In His temple all cry, “Glory! ”

10The Lord sat enthroned at the flood;

the Lord sits enthroned, King forever.

11The Lord gives His people strength;[#Ps 28:8; 68:35]

the Lord blesses His people with peace.
