2 Chronicles 27

2 Chronicles 27

Jotham, King of Judah

2Ki 15:33–38

1Jotham was twenty-five years old when he began as king, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. The name of his mother was Jerushah the daughter of Zadok.[#1Ch 3:12]

2And he did what was correct in the eyes of the Lord just as his father Uzziah had done. However, he did not enter the temple of the Lord . But the people continued acting corruptly.

3And he built the Upper Gate of the house of the Lord , and he built much on the wall of Ophel.[#2Ch 33:14; Ne 3:26–27]

4And he built cities in the hill country of Judah, and on the wooded heights he built citadels and towers.

5He made war with the king of the Ammonites and prevailed against them. That year the Ammonites gave to him a hundred talents of silver, ten thousand kors of wheat, and ten thousand kors of barley. The Ammonites paid him the same amount in the second and third years as well.[#27:5 About 33/4 tons, or 3.4 metric tons.; #27:5 Likely about 1,800 tons, or 1,600 metric tons of wheat.; #27:5 Likely about 1,500 tons, or 1,350 metric tons of barley.]

6So Jotham was strengthened because he established his ways before the Lord his God.[#2Ch 26:5]

7And the rest of the acts of Jotham, all his wars and ways, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah.

8He was twenty-five years old when he began to reign, and he was king for sixteen years in Jerusalem.

9And Jotham slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the City of David. And Ahaz his son reigned in his place.
