Colossians 3

Colossians 3

If you then were raised with Christ, desire those things which are above, where Christ sits at the right hand of God.[#Ps 110:1; Mk 16:19]

Set your affection on things above, not on things on earth.[#Mt 16:23]

For you are dead, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.[#Ro 6:2; Col 2:20]

When Christ who is our life shall appear, then you also shall appear with Him in glory.[#Jn 11:25; 1Jn 3:2]

Therefore put to death the parts of your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, inordinate affection, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.[#Ro 8:13; #1Co 6:18]

Because of these things, the wrath of God comes on the sons of disobedience.[#Ro 1:18; Eph 5:6]

You also once walked in these, when you lived in them.[#Eph 2:2]

But now you must also put away all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, and filthy language out of your mouth.[#Eph 4:22; #Eph 4:29]

Do not lie one to another, since you have put off the old nature with its deeds,[#Eph 4:25; #Eph 4:22]

and have embraced the new nature, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of Him who created it,[#Ro 12:2; Eph 2:10; 4:23–24]

where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, barbarian, Scythian, slave nor free, but Christ is all and in all.[#Ro 10:12; Gal 3:28; #Eph 1:23]

So embrace, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, a spirit of mercy, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, and longsuffering.[#Eph 4:2]

Bear with one another and forgive one another. If anyone has a quarrel against anyone, even as Christ forgave you, so you must do.[#Mk 11:25; Eph 4:32]

And above all these things, embrace love, which is the bond of perfection.[#1Co 13; #Eph 4:3]

Let the peace of God, to which also you are called in one body, rule in your hearts. And be thankful.[#Jn 14:27; #Eph 5:20]

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.[#Ro 10:17; Col 1:28; #Eph 5:19]

And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.[#1Co 10:31; #Eph 5:20]

Social Duties of the New Life

Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands, as it is fitting in the Lord.

Husbands, love your wives, and do not be bitter toward them.[#Eph 5:25; 1Pe 3:7]

Children, obey your parents in all things, for this is well pleasing to the Lord.[#Ex 20:12]

Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.[#Eph 6:4]

Servants, obey your masters in all things according to the flesh, serving not only when they are watching, as the servants of men, but in singleness of heart, fearing God.[#Eph 6:5–6]

And whatever you do, do it heartily, as for the Lord and not for men,[#Col 3:17]

knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance. For you serve the Lord Christ.[#1Co 7:22; Eph 6:8]

But he who does wrong will receive for the wrong which he has done, and there is no partiality.[#Dt 10:17; Ac 10:34]
