¹An oracle within my heart

about the transgression of the wicked:

There is no fear of God

before their eyes.

²For he flatters himself in his own eyes,[#Dt 29:19]

so that his iniquity cannot be found out and hated.

³The words of his mouth are wickedness and deceit;

he has ceased to be wise and to do good.

⁴He devises mischief on his bed;[#Pr 4:16]

he sets himself on a path that is not good;

he does not reject evil.

⁵Your mercy, O Lord , extends to the heavens,

and Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds.

⁶Your righteousness is like the great mountains,[#Ps 71:19]

Your judgments are like the great deep;

O Lord , You preserve man and beast.

⁷How excellent is Your lovingkindness, O God!

Therefore mankind

seeks refuge in the shadow of Your wings.

⁸They will drink their fill from the abundance of Your house,[#Ps 65:4]

and You give them drink from the river of Your pleasures.

⁹For with You is the fountain of life;[#Jer 2:13]

in Your light we see light.

¹⁰Oh, continue Your lovingkindness to those who know You,[#Jer 22:16]

and Your righteousness to the upright in heart.

¹¹Let not the foot of the arrogant tread on me,

and let not the hand of the wicked drive me away.

¹²There the workers of iniquity have fallen;[#Ps 1:5]

they are cast down and are not able to rise.
