Psalms 26

Psalm 26

Plea for Justice and Declaration of Righteousness

1Vindicate me, O Lord ,[#Ps 7.8; 25.2; Prov 20.7; Heb 10.23]

for I have walked in my integrity,

and I have trusted in the Lord without wavering.

2Prove me, O Lord , and try me;[#Ps 7.9; 66.10]

test my heart and mind.

3For your steadfast love is before my eyes,[#2 Kings 20.3]

and I walk in faithfulness to you.

4I do not sit with the worthless,[#Ps 1.1]

nor do I consort with hypocrites;

5I hate the company of evildoers[#Ps 1.1]

and will not sit with the wicked.

6I wash my hands in innocence[#Ps 73.13]

and go around your altar, O Lord ,

7singing aloud a song of thanksgiving[#Ps 9.1; 35.18]

and telling all your wondrous deeds.

8O Lord , I love the house in which you dwell[#Ps 27.4]

and the place where your glory abides.

9Do not sweep me away with sinners[#Ps 28.3]

nor my life with the bloodthirsty,

10those in whose hands are evil devices[#1 Sam 8.3]

and whose right hands are full of bribes.

11But as for me, I walk in my integrity;[#v 1 ; Ps 69.18]

redeem me and be gracious to me.

12My foot stands on level ground;[#Ps 22.22; 27.11; 40.2]

in the great congregation I will bless the Lord .
