chapter five

¹and what relates to the times and seasons, brothers, have need you (PL) not, that one shall write to you (PL).

²because you (PL) yourselves know quite accurately, that the Day of the L-rd comes as a thief in the night.

³while it will be said: peace and safety, will then suddenly come on them their disaster, as pangs on a childbirth, and they will never way no escape.

⁴you (PL) however are not in the darkness, that the day shall you (PL) surprise as a thief;

⁵because all are you (PL) children of the light and children of the day; we are not of the night, also not of the darkness;

⁶therefore let us not sleep as the others, but watch and be sober.

⁷because the (ones), who sleep, sleep by night; and the (ones), who get drunk themselves on, getting drunk themselves on by night.

⁸but because we are of the day, let us be sober, let us ourselves clothe with the breast shield of faith and love, and, as a helmet, the hope of salvation.

⁹because Hashem has us not appointed to wrath, but to the obtain salvation through the L-rd our Yehoshua the Moshiach,

¹⁰who did die for our sakes, so that also whether we are awake or whether we sleep, shall we live together with Him.

¹¹comfort then yourselves and build up one the other, as you (PL) do it also.

¹²we ask you (PL) however, brothers, that you (PL) shall recognize the (ones), who toil themselves among you (PL), and are the (ones) who are over you (PL) in the L-rd and speak to you (PL) words of reproof,

¹³and you (PL) shall them grant very much honor with love on account of their work. have peace among yourselves.

¹⁴and we are you (PL) exhort, brothers, you (PL) shall warn the idle, strengthen the faint of heart, support the weak, be patient in relation to (to) everyone.

¹⁵see, that anyone shall not repay any one evil for evil; but always shall you (PL) chase after the good one for the other and for all.

¹⁶rejoice yourselves always;

¹⁷do prayer without ceasing;

¹⁸be thankful for everything; because this is Hashem's will in the Moshiach Yehoshua for your sake.

¹⁹quench not the Spirit;

²⁰scorn not prophecies (to say);

²¹test all out, hold firm the good;

²²move away yourselves from evil in every form.

²³and the G-d of peace Himself shall you (PL) sanctify through and through; and shall your whole spirit and soul and body kept be without a blemish at the coming again of our L-rd Yehoshua the Moshiach.

²⁴faithful is the One, who calls you (PL), who will it also do.

²⁵brothers, do prayer for us.

²⁶give up peace all brothers with a holy kiss.

²⁷I adjure you (PL) by the L-rd, that this letter shall read be before all brothers.

²⁸the grace of our L-rd Yehoshua the Moshiach shall be with you (PL).
