Leviticus 24

Leviticus 24

Tabernacle Oil and Bread

YHWH spoke to Moses, saying,

“You are to command the children of Israel to bring to you pure olive oil beaten for the light, to make a lamp to burn continually.

Outside of the veil of the Testimony, in the Tent of Meeting, Aaron must keep it in order from evening to morning before YHWH continually. It is to be a permanent statute throughout y’all’s generations.

He must continually keep the lamps in order on the pure gold lamp stand before YHWH.

“You are to take fine flour, and bake twelve cakes of it: each cake is to be two tenths of an ephah.[#24:5 1 ephah is about 22 liters or about 2/3 of a bushel]

You must arrange them in two rows, six on a row, on the pure gold table before YHWH.

You are to place pure frankincense on each row, so that it will be a memorial for the bread, a food offering for YHWH.

Every Sabbath day he is to continually set it in order before YHWH. It is an everlasting covenant on the behalf of the children of Israel.

It belongs to Aaron and his sons. They are to eat it in a holy place, for it is most holy to him of the food offerings for YHWH by a perpetual statute.”

Punishment for Blasphemy

The son of an Israelite woman and an Egyptian father went out among the children of Israel, and the Israelite woman’s son had a fight in the camp with a man of Israel.

The Israelite woman’s son blasphemed the Name and cursed, so they brought him to Moses. His mother’s name was Shelomith, the daughter of Dibri, of the tribe of Dan.

They put him in custody until YHWH’s will could be declared to them.

YHWH spoke to Moses, saying,

“You are to bring the one who cursed out of the camp and let all who heard him lay their hands on his head. Then have all the assembly stone him.

You are to speak to the children of Israel, saying, ‘Whoever curses their God will bear their sin.

Whoever blasphemes the name of YHWH must be put to death-death. The whole congregation must stone-stone him. Anyone who blasphemes the Name, whether foreigner or native must be put to death.

“‘Anyone strikes a human mortally must be executed-executed.

Anyone strikes an animal mortally must make restitution, life for life.

If anyone injures their neighbor, what they have done to must be done to them:

fracture for fracture, eye for eye, tooth for tooth. The injury he gave will be given to him.

Whoever kills an animal must make restitution; and anyone who kills a human must be put to death.

There is to be one law for y’all, both the foreigner and the native-born, because I am YHWH y’all’s God.’”

Moses spoke to the children of Israel, and they brought the one who had cursed out of the camp and stoned him with stones. The children of Israel did as YHWH commanded Moses.
