Zechariah 10

Yahweh Gives Rain

¹Ask rain from Yahweh in the season of the spring rain—

Yahweh, who makes storm clouds,

and he gives showers of rain to them,

²Because the household gods speak deceit,[#Hebrew teraphim]

and the dreamers of vanity speak in vain.

they are afflicted because there is no shepherd.

³My anger burns against the shepherds,[#Literally “My nose becomes hot”]

because Yahweh of hosts watches over his flock,

⁴From them the cornerstone will go out,[#Hebrew “him” (or “it”), referring to the flock in v. 3]

from them the battle bow,

⁵And they will be like warriors,

They will fight, because Yahweh is with them,

⁶And I will strengthen the house of Judah,

And I will bring them back, because I have compassion on them,

⁷And the people of Ephraim will be like a warrior,

And their children will see and rejoice;

⁸I will whistle to them and gather them,

⁹Though I sow them among the nations,[#Or “scatter”]

¹⁰And I will bring them back from the land of Egypt,

To the land of Gilead and Lebanon I will bring them,

¹¹And he will pass through the sea of distress,[#LXX reads “they,” referring to the Israelites (so NIV, NRSV, NASB)]

The pride of Assyria will be brought low,

¹²I will make them strong in Yahweh,
