Psalms 13

Psalm 13

Prayer for Deliverance from Enemies

1How long, O Lord ? Will you forget me forever?[#Job 13.24; Ps 44.24; 88.14]

How long will you hide your face from me?

2How long must I bear pain in my soul[#Ps 42.4, 9; 94.3; #13.2 Syr: Heb hold counsels]

and have sorrow in my heart all day long?

How long shall my enemy be exalted over me?

3Consider and answer me, O Lord my God![#Ezra 9.8; Ps 5.1; Jer 51.39]

Give light to my eyes, or I will sleep the sleep of death,

4and my enemy will say, “I have prevailed”;[#Ps 25.2; Jer 20.10]

my foes will rejoice because I am shaken.

5But I trusted in your steadfast love;[#Ps 9.14; 52.8]

my heart shall rejoice in your salvation.

6I will sing to the Lord[#Ps 59.16; 116.7]

because he has dealt bountifully with me.
