Psalms 114

¹When Israel came out of Egypt, Jacob’s house from a people foreign-speaking,

²Judah became His Sanctuary, Israel His dominion.

³The sea saw and fled, the Jordan turned back.

⁴The mountains skipped like rams, the hills like lambs.

⁵Why was it, O sea, that you fled? O Jordan, that you turned back?

⁶O mountains, that you skipped like rams? O hills, like lambs?

⁷Tremble, O earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob,

⁸who turned the rock into a pool of water, the flint into a spring of water.
