Micah 6

Micah 6

God’s dispute with Israel

1Hear what the LORD is saying:

Arise, lay out the lawsuit before the mountains;

2Hear, mountains, the lawsuit of the LORD !

The LORD has a lawsuit against his people;

3“My people, what did I ever do to you?

4I brought you up out of the land of Egypt;

5My people, remember what Moab’s King Balak had planned,

What does the LORD require?

6With what should I approach the LORD

Should I come before him with entirely burned offerings,

7Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams,

Should I give my oldest child for my crime;

8He has told you, human one, what is good and

Punishment is near

9The voice of the LORD calls out to the city;

10Are the treasures of wickedness still in the house of wickedness,

11Can I approve wicked scales and a bag of false weights

12in a city whose wealthy are full of violence[#6.12 Heb lacks]

13So I have made you sick by striking you!

14You devour, but you aren’t satisfied;

You put something aside,

15You sow, but you don’t gather.

You tread down olives, but you don’t anoint with oil;

16Yet you have kept the policies of Omri,[#6.16 Or he]

you have followed their counsels.

Therefore, I will make you a sign of destruction,

You must bear the reproach of my people.
