²The LORD is a jealous and vengeful God;

The LORD is vengeful against his foes;

³The LORD is very patient but great in power;

His way is in whirlwind and storm;

⁴He can blast the sea and make it dry up;

Bashan and Carmel wither;

⁵The mountains quake because of him;

The earth heaves before him—

⁶Who can stand before his indignation?

His wrath pours out like fire;

⁷The LORD is good,

He acknowledges those who take refuge in him.

⁹What are you plotting against the LORD ?

They are consumed like stubble

Reassurance for God’s people

Though once they were a healthy and numerous force,

I have afflicted you;

¹³Now I will break off his yoke from you
