Exodus 11

Exodus 11

Warning of the Final Plague

1Now the Lord said to Moses, “I will still bring one plague more upon Pharaoh, and upon Egypt. Afterwards he will let you go from here. When he lets you go, he shall surely thrust you out from here altogether.

2Speak now in the hearing of the people, and let every man borrow of his neighbor and every woman of her neighbor, articles of silver and articles of gold.”[#Ex 3:22; 12:35–36]

3Then the Lord gave the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians. Moreover, the man Moses was very great in the land of Egypt, in the sight of Pharaoh’s servants, and in the sight of the people.[#Ex 3:21; 12:36]

4Moses said, “Thus says the Lord , ‘About midnight I will go out into the midst of Egypt,[#Ex 12:29; Job 34:20]

5and all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sits on his throne, even to the firstborn of the maidservant that is behind the mill, as well as all the firstborn of beasts.[#Ex 4:23; Nu 3:12–13; Ps 78:51; Col 1:15; Rev 1:5]

6Then there shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, such as there has never been, nor shall ever be again.[#Ex 12:30; Am 5:17]

7But against any of the Israelites a dog will not even move his tongue, against man or beast, in order that you may know how that the Lord distinguishes between Egypt and Israel.’[#Jos 10:21; #Ex 8:22]

8Then all these your servants shall come down to me and bow themselves to me, saying, ‘Get out, and all the people who follow you!’ After that I will go out.” And he went out from Pharaoh in great anger.[#Ex 12:31–33]

9Then the Lord said to Moses, “Pharaoh shall not listen to you so that My wonders may be multiplied in the land of Egypt.”[#Ex 3:19; 7:3–4]

10So Moses and Aaron did all these wonders before Pharaoh, and the Lord hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he would not let the Israelites go out of his land.[#Ex 4:21; 10:20]
