Revelation 19

Revelation 19

Three Hallelujahs for the Fall of Babylon!

1After these things I heard a roar in heaven that sounded like a huge crowd. They were shouting,

“Hallelujah!

Salvation and glory and power belong to our God,

2because the way he judges is true and fair.

He has punished the great prostitute

who made the earth impure with her terrible sins.

God has paid her back for shedding the blood of his servants.”

3Again they shouted,

“Hallelujah!

The smoke from her fire goes up for ever and ever.”

4The 24 elders and the four living creatures bowed down and worshiped God, who was sitting on the throne. They cried out,

“Amen! Hallelujah!”

5Then a voice came from the throne. It said,

“Praise our God,

all you who serve him!

Praise God, all you who have respect for him,

both great and small!”

6Then I heard the noise of a huge crowd. It sounded like the roar of rushing waters and like loud thunder. The people were shouting,

“Hallelujah!

The Lord our God is the King who rules over all.

7Let’s celebrate and be happy!

Let’s give him glory!

It’s time for the Lamb’s wedding,

and his bride has put on her dress.

8Fine linen, bright and clean,

was given to her to wear.”

(Fine linen stands for the just and fair things that the saints do.)

9Then the angel told me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb!” Then he added, “These are the true words of God.”

10When I heard this, I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, “Don’t do that! I’m God’s servant, just like you and your brothers and sisters who hold firmly to what Jesus taught. Worship God! The Spirit of prophecy tells the truth about Jesus.”

The Heavenly Warrior Has Victory Over the Beast

11Then I saw heaven open up, and there was a white horse in front of me. Its rider is called Faithful and True. When he judges or fights a war, he’s always fair.

12His eyes are like blazing fire, and he has many crowns on his head. He has a name written on him that only he knows.

13He’s dressed in a robe that has been dipped in blood. His name is the Word of God.

14The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses. They were dressed in fine linen, white and clean.

15The rider has a sharp sword coming out of his mouth. He’ll use it to strike down the nations. “He will rule them with an iron scepter.” He crushes the grapes in the winepress of the terrible anger of God Almighty.

16This is the name that’s written on the rider’s robe and on his thigh:

17Then I saw an angel standing in the sun. He called out to all the birds that were flying high in the air, “Come, gather together for the great supper that God is serving.

18Come and eat the flesh of kings, generals, and other mighty people, of horses and their riders, and of all people, free and slave, great and small.”

19Then I saw the beast and the kings of the earth with their armies. They had gathered together to fight a war against the rider on the horse and his army.

20But the beast was captured, along with the false prophet who’d done signs for the beast. With those signs the false prophet had deceived those who’d received the mark of the beast and worshiped its statue. The beast and the false prophet were thrown alive into the lake of fire that burns with sulfur.

21The rest of their army was killed by the sword that came out of the rider’s mouth. And the birds feasted on their dead bodies until they couldn’t eat any more.
