Psalm 87

Glorious Things of You Are Spoken

¹On the holy mount stands the city he founded;[#Ps. 48:1; #Isa. 28:16]

²the Lord loves the gates of Zion[#Ps. 78:67, 68]

more than all the dwelling places of Jacob.

³Glorious things of you are spoken,[#Isa. 60:1]

O city of God. Selah

⁴Among those who know me I mention Rahab and Babylon;[#Ps. 36:10; John 10:14; #Job 9:13; Isa. 19:22-25]

behold, Philistia and Tyre, with Cush—

“This one was born there,” they say.

⁵And of Zion it shall be said,

“This one and that one were born in her”;

for the Most High himself will establish her.

⁶The Lord records as he registers the peoples,[#Ps. 69:28]

“This one was born there.” Selah

⁷Singers and dancers alike say,[#Ps. 68:25; #2 Sam. 6:14]

“All my springs are in you.”
