Psalm 24

The King of Glory

¹The earth is the Lord ’s and the fullness thereof,[#Ps. 50:12; 89:11; Ex. 9:29; 19:5; Deut. 10:14; Job 41:11; 1 Cor. 10:26; #24:1 Or and all that fills it]

the world and those who dwell therein,

²for he has founded it upon the seas[#Ps. 104:5; Job 38:6; Prov. 8:29; #Ps. 136:6; Gen. 1:9]

and established it upon the rivers.

³Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord ?[#Ps. 15:1-5]

And who shall stand in his holy place?

⁴He who has clean hands and a pure heart,[#Deut. 10:12; Isa. 33:15, 16; Mic. 6:8; #Job 22:30; #Ps. 73:1; Matt. 5:8]

who does not lift up his soul to what is false

and does not swear deceitfully.

⁵He will receive blessing from the Lord[#Gen. 22:17, 18]

and righteousness from the God of his salvation.

⁶Such is the generation of those who seek him,[#Ps. 14:5]

who seek the face of the God of Jacob. Selah

⁷Lift up your heads, O gates![#Ps. 118:19, 20; Isa. 26:2]

And be lifted up, O ancient doors,

that the King of glory may come in.

⁸Who is this King of glory?

The Lord , strong and mighty,

the Lord , mighty in battle!

⁹Lift up your heads, O gates!

And lift them up, O ancient doors,

that the King of glory may come in.

The Lord of hosts,
