Save Me, O My God

¹O Lord , how many are my foes![#2 Sam. 15:12]

Many are rising against me;

²many are saying of my soul,

“There is no salvation for him in God.” Selah

³But you, O Lord , are a shield about me,[#Ps. 28:7; 84:9; 119:114; Gen. 15:1; #Job 1:10]

my glory, and the lifter of my head.

⁴I cried aloud to the Lord ,[#Ps. 77:1; 142:1]

and he answered me from his holy hill. Selah

⁵I lay down and slept;[#Ps. 4:8; Lev. 26:6; Job 11:18, 19; Prov. 3:24]

I woke again, for the Lord sustained me.

⁶I will not be afraid of many thousands of people[#Ps. 23:4; 27:3]

who have set themselves against me all around.

Save me, O my God!

For you strike all my enemies on the cheek;

you break the teeth of the wicked.
